It's been years since I've gone surf fishing. What combination of happenstance drew me back to casting small lures into the waters edge? I have an injured shoulder, for one. Not bad, and mending, but paddling is out. Also, it's January, so the backwaters in NJ are off limits for two months. With reports fish being caught in the surf, and water temperatures still in the low 50's I decided to dust off my old gear.
I spoke with several anglers (as there were quite a few of us out there) and none had caught a fish.
Although some had heard rumors.
In the winter the days may be short, but the shadows are long.
